All I Want To Do Ever Is Shop.

Lately my obsessions with beautiful clothing and fashion and my desire to perfect my own personal style have been amplified. Perhaps it's my slight dissatisfaction with my current predicament and the strong desire to live a more fabulous life in a more fabulous city. I dream of my amazing apartment in Greenpoint with exposed brick walls and floor to ceiling windows, the perfect hip city wardrobe, a bespectacled partner in crime, and dancing like mad every weekend to Holy Ghost! and The Juan Maclean. I don't know if it's the fact that fashion trends are currently very much in line with my personal aesthetic or if my tastes are expanding and becoming more sophisticated (I think it's a little of both), but I'm surrounded by beautiful clothing. 1960s dress cuts, peter pan collars, tie necks and pussy bows, headbands and bow clips, retro heels, bright colored tights, plaids and checkers, wingtips...

My friend Kimberly introduced my to a site called Polyvore which allows me to save and keep track of all of the clothings that I see online that I want and also lets me create sets like this:

I read an article in ReadyMade magazine yesterday while I was bored at work about a 39 year old indie rocker chick named Eleni Mandell who makes all of her own clothes. She sews adorable little mod dresses using vintage patterns, something I've been wanting to do for quite some time. I've been lazy about this whole learning how to sew thing and my Christmas gift sewing machine has pretty much sat on my desk gathering dust since December. But hopefully next month I will be taking a sewing class at the Stitch House in Dorchester and then I'll start making my own lovely creations. If I seem to have a knack for the craft perhaps I'll even get a wild hair and go to fashion schoooool. woo!

PS: I'm hoping for a move to NYC in the fall...
Makin' it happen!

A Sweet Vibration Seemed to Fill The Air...

Hello my long lost blog. Sort of lost interest in you as I lost interest in writing (exclusively) about music, and instead of expanding your subject matter I ignored you. Anywho, I'm back and the idea this time is to write about anything of note and interest. You should expect lots about fashion, clothes I want and clothes I have purchased, art and design I am drawn to, photos of my crafts and creations, things I do and things I want to do.

Lately I've been delving into crafty activities. It feels really great to be creating things that I'm proud of and that I find beautiful— it's just what I needed! I've been making hair clippies and brooches out of vintage beads and findings and soon I'll be taking a sewing class so that I can try my hands at making clothes! I have an etsy shop where I sell my goodies. My line is called Hung Up On a Dream, after The Zombies song— one of my absolute favorite songs. That song and band have been a great source of inspiration for me as of late.

On Saturday March 21st myself and my work friend Melinda at MUM Boston will be at the Holy Craft! Fair and Flea Market at the Elks Lodge on Bishop Allen Drive in Cambridge). I'm super excited!

Do Come!

More to come soon!
